Young Vinnies

At St Dominic’s, our own school Vinnies group meets regularly at lunchtimes for fun, games and discussions around the work of the Vinnies group, focussing on community issues such as food insecurity.

This year our Vinnies group has been busy living out the theme, "Let your light shine before others", through action, compassion, and service.

Highlights have included a Cook-Up, where students prepared meals for those in need, and a Working Bee at Holy Cross Church in Henderson, helping with gardening, painting, and clean-up.

At school, we also led lunchtime sessions raising awareness about issues such as homelessness and food insecurity. Participation in the Masses for Vinnies at the Cathedral have also been a favourite. Vinnies gives students the chance to serve others and put our Catholic values into practice in real, meaningful ways. It has been inspiring to see so many young people shine their light both within school and out in the wider community.

Thank you to all who have supported us this year - your kindness makes a real difference. Our leaders look forward to growing the Vinnies whanau even more in 2026!
