It is an honour to be named DUX of St Dominic’s Catholic College 2021. This achievement would not have been possible without the constant support of my teachers, friends and especially my family, who have always encouraged me to aim high and work hard, even through this challenging year of Covid-19. I encourage every student to approach education with the Ancient Greek proverb, “Pan Metron Ariston” - everything in moderation. Maintaining a balance between schoolwork and spending time on things you enjoy provides an opportunity to bring out your best self and achieve more than you may think you’re capable of.
Dux Ludorum
Suluama Vaeau-Mulitalo
It goes without saying that Suluama is worthy of Dux Ludorum. Throughout her years of college, she has dominated the sporting scene both in school, club and nationally, including the Western/central zones athletic championships, North Island Championships and NZ Secondary Schools' Track and Field invitational Championships. With Suluama's chosen sport being an individual event, she enjoys team competition and has tried her hand at a range of sports through college. Suluama has represented Saint Dominic’s in athletics - (shot put, discus and hammer - national champs), basketball, senior volleyball, turbo touch, TAG, touch, netball - top teams (since Yr 7 and premier team for the last 3 years). Suluama has coached netball teams and volunteered during their trials. She is always keen to help out and very committed to her training. Congratulations to our 2021 Dux Ludorum - Suluama Vaeau-Mulitalo.
Brodeur Shield
Greshka Lao
Throughout her sporting years at Saint Dominic’s College, Greshka Lao has been selected for prominent sporting awards at her year level. She is a friendly face around the school, trustworthy and loyal, highly organised and humble. One who would willingly help in any given situation and be more than happy to share her knowledge and skill with anyone who asks. Greshka has been selected for many representative teams in her favourite sport of basketball. Congratulations to Greshka who is our Brodeur Shield recipient for 2021.

Winning awards is a recognition of outstanding achievement and certainly worthy of celebration. However, awards, certificates and accolades do not define any individual. Each and every one of them have faced obstacles and responded with positivity and resilience, and is worthy of applause and celebration.
