28 teams of passionate young readers gathered for the long running Book Battle, a fast paced competition where Year 7 and 8 students are challenged to read six selected books, along with brushing up on their knowledge of children’s literature. Teams then face off in 10 rounds of intense quiz questions, testing both their reading and general book knowledge.
This year marked St Dominic’s first ever entry, and what an incredible debut it was!
St Dominic's A - Amanat Chauhan, Anakha Kuriakose, Emily Knight and Lauretta Silver - placed third overall, finishing just behind the two top teams who tied for first place! Their outstanding result earned them a small cash prize, a trophy, and a donation to our college library. An amazing achievement! well done, team!
A big shoutout also to St Dominic’s B - Maria Armasu, Mila Coombes, Oshean Augustin and Vienna Chang - who represented the college with pride and walked away with a well deserved spot prize.
A huge thank you to our amazing librarian Amy Silver for supporting our students, and to Barfoot & Thompson West Harbour for sponsoring the event and providing the prizes.
We are so proud of our students. What a fantastic day of literary fun and competition!
