Surfing - Poppy Arkle

Our very own Poppy Arkle has achieved her biggest goal so far in her world of Surfing. We look forward to her return from the Junior Worlds champs but in the meantime, she has featured in this article – on One News website by Scotty Stevenson: The teen, the beach town, and a shot at the world.

Poppy Arkle may be just 14, but this weekend she hit Surf City, El Salvador to compete in the under-18 division at the ISA World Junior Championships. Scotty Stevenson paid a visit to Auckland’s West Coast to learn more about one of New Zealand surfing’s rising stars and the community that helped her live her dream.

Swimming - Carolann Faeamani

During the first week of the term holidays, Carolann Faeamani attended the  New Zealand National Age Group Championships for the first time, with her swim club Mt Eden  - 8 swimmers competed.  This was a great experience swimming with the best swimmers in NZ - Congratulations Carolann, on achieving these results, and all the best with your future events!


50 M Backstroke  13th place in   16 yr olds  ( was 15th seed) 
50 M Freestyle 17th place  in 16 yr olds  (was 17th seed) 
100 M Freestyle 21st place in 16 yr olds (was 24th seed) 
Mixed 4x50m Freestyle Relay (16 yrs & over ) 4th place.  Just missing out on the bronze medal 
Mixed 4x50 M Medley Relay  (16 yrs & over)  11th place. 

In the 2nd week of the holidays, Carolann travelled to the Gold Coast to swim with Team Tonga  ( 5 swimmers)  at the Oceania Championships  ( 21- 24 April)

50 M Breaststroke  12th place, PB 
50 M Freestyle  7th place
