New Uniform

From the beginning of the 2022 season, all players are expected to have purchased a new netball dress. There will be opportunities to purchase a new dress at our pop up shop in January, before the start of the school year, and just before the season begins. You will be notified through the whanau Panui, and on our social media pages. We appreciate your cooperation with this and cannot wait to see all of our students in the new & improved uniform soon. The changes include a new material and shape as well as design updates. The price remains at $63.50. We wish to thank Elizabeth Michael for their hard work in creating this new dress and know that our students will play in it with pride.

If you have a netball dress that you no longer require, please drop it into the sports office with a name and number attached so we can sell on your behalf. New dresses are purchased from Elizabeth Michael. We will be taking orders for these in February 2022 from the college for those who cannot make it to Elizabeth Michael. We strongly recommend purchasing the new dresses in February/early March.

Year 7 & 8 Sport

Year 7 & 8 sport is run by AAIMS - a separate organisation to our college sport (Run by College Sport Auckland and NZ Sport). (For further information: https://www.sporty.co.nz/aaimsyear78sports)

The idea of this is to get as many students competing at their skill level and within similar age groups. Each sport is organized into One Day Tournaments throughout each term. The sport season follows what College Sport Auckland offers to our college school (yr 9 – 13). This helps with students who play for both school and clubs within that sport.

Most fees are paid through our affiliation fees, with the exception of transport, if the College Van is available. We sometimes depend on parent help with transport and will send out a request along with a permission letter. Your support in this would be greatly appreciated.

We have had a few disruptions to our start date this year and the calendar of events usually changes to suit things out of our control such as our recent lockdowns. We have had to also work in with other seasonal sport and tournaments that have already been organized through College Sport Auckland.

When we have been given the opportunity to compete, Participation is the key and so we have been working with both College Sport Auckland and AAIMS events to encourage this. Intra-school competitions have enabled the college to prepare for our Western Zone One day tournaments.

We are Blessed to be able to organize a team to represent Saint Dominic’s Catholic College as we know our community is always keen to support our students. You are more than welcome to attend any sport we participate in.

If you have any further questions regarding sport at Saint Dominic’s, or would like to help out with any sport through management or coaching, please feel free to get in touch.

Anchor AIMS Games

About

Every year we work towards taking a group of year 7 & 8 students to the annual Anchor AIMS Games in Tauranga. This is an opportunity for young sports women to compete alongside some of the best sporting competitors nationally and internationally within the 23 different sports codes offered. Athletes can compete as individuals or as part of a team.

Who

The Anchor AIMS Games experience is open to year 7 & 8 students at the college. In 2022 we have a goal of taking a netball team and a football or hockey team. We also take individual athletes who qualify within their own sport. For more information on what is offered at the  AIMS Games, use the following link,
https://www.nzaimsgames.co.nz/.

When

The Anchor AIMS Games Sporting Championship is usually held in Week 7 of Term 2 . Unfortunately, for the past 2 years, it has had to be cancelled due to the effects of Covid 19 and Lockdown restrictions. We look forward to next year's aim to get us started again. The Sports Department is regularly updated on events and will notify our community through our network channels. You are also welcome to contact us.

Winter Tournament Weeks

With the Effects of Covid 19 and Alert Level restrictions, Sport NZ have had to cancel College Winter Tournament Weeks for 2020 and 2021. We continue to work alongside them, and College Sport Auckland in encouraging participation of sport through the sports seasons that are provided during Alert Levels 1 and 2. We hope to continue with these opportunities to play top level sport in 2022.
