Two teams of dedicated Year 7 and 8 readers represented the college at the Auckland final of the Kids’ Lit Quiz competition.
In teams of four, they faced 100 challenging questions spanning all aspects of children’s literature, from Hairy Maclary and Harry Potter to Nancy Drew, nursery rhymes, and even Norse, Greek, Roman, and Aztec mythology. Competition was fierce, with over 70 teams from schools across Auckland competing for the regional title.
Our teams were:
Rose Barnett, Maria Armasu, Harinikaa Senthilkumar, Abi Pimenta, Grace Kenny, Leni Kuper, Esme Johnson, and Gauravi Silva.
Both teams represented the school with pride and resilience in the face of some very challenging questions, and their teamwork was outstanding. Congratulations to all our competitors, especially St Dom’s A, who placed in the top 10 after five rounds, a strong achievement.
While we didn’t progress to the national final, it was a great day out and the students should be proud of their efforts.
Special thanks also to Year 10 student coaches Aalam, Livana, and Audrey for their support in preparing the teams.
