Each year, as part of the Religious Education programme, all students at St Dominic's Catholic College attend a day retreat, organised and led by the Director of Religious Studies and staff from the Religious Education Department.
Year 7 Retreat
Our year 7 students recently attended their retreat at Te Pai, themed ‘UN-TITLED’ led by the inspiring NET team.
The day focused on junior leadership and building community and students engaged in a variety of activities that encouraged teamwork, self-reflection, and meaningful connection with others.
They also had the opportunity to deepen their relationship with God, exploring how faith can guide their choices and leadership. Throughout the retreat, students embraced new challenges, formed lasting connections, and discovered that true leadership is not about having a title, but about empathy, initiative, and a positive attitude.
The experience has laid a strong foundation for a supportive and connected year ahead, and we look forward to seeing our Year 7s continue to grow in confidence, character, and faith.
Year 13 Retreat
Our Year 13 students recently spent two days on retreat at Carey Park Christian Camp in Henderson Valley, led by the wonderful team from LOGOS. While the weather was certainly wintery, the retreat provided a valuable opportunity for students to step away from the busyness of everyday life and reflect on the exciting journey ahead.
Guided by the theme, "Here I Am, Send Me" (Isaiah 6:8), students were encouraged to consider who God is calling them to be as they prepare to leave St Dominic's and take their next steps into the wider world. Through prayer, discussion, reflection, and plenty of laughter, they explored their gifts, their purpose, and the impact they can have on others by living out our Dominican values.
It was a meaningful few days of connection, challenge, and renewal, giving our Year 13 students the chance to pause, deepen their faith, and look towards the future with hope and confidence.
